later-in-life transitions

Individual
Individual Sessions

I provide one-on-one sessions for individuals wishing to address a variety of concerns. Some common examples include relationship issues, loss, life transition, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, stress, feeling a loss of pleasure and motivation, history of abuse, trauma, family concerns, and parenting. Each of these concerns often involves how we experience and interact with the world around us, and we will strive to bring you to a place of self-mastery, security, comfort, and meaning.

I specialize in working with adolescents and older adults. Teenage years are a critical time for people to form healthy relationships, develop their self-concept, and set the tone for how they will experience the world as an adult. In working with older adults, I believe this is also a critical time for renewed self-discovery and the creation of meaning as one looks back at where they have been and determines where they still hope to go.

Therapy is unique to each individual with whom I work and may be more direct or exploratory depending on your communication style. We will typically progress from a focus on immediate symptom alleviation to a period of self-
discovery, processing, and re-learning, and finally the co-creating of your next chapter.

Couples
Couples Sessions

The importance of relationship quality to our life satisfaction continues to be explored and validated in research. So it makes sense that we would want to build the strength of a relationship as we do the strength of our bodies. In order to stay in shape, we must continue to explore, talk, learn, and discover. I am here to facilitate those important conversational exercises for a couple, as an unbiased guide and facilitator.

Whether dealing with feelings of disconnection, staleness, communication difficulties, infidelity, life transition, family loss, financial or parenting disagreements, my goal is promote a space where both individuals -and the relationship- feel safe and supported.

Going to couples therapy can seem daunting, and my hope is that after a consultation these worries will be assuaged. Attending couples sessions is a strength, not a weakness, and a courageous step that can have an invaluable impact on your daily and long-term life satisfaction.

Premarital
Premarital Sessions

I am a certified facilitator of the Prepare-Enrich premarital program, which has been used worldwide to help guide over 4 million couples to gain a deeper understanding of their dynamics, strengths, and opportunities for growth. It is an unbiased assessment used to direct our conversations in important topic areas including communication, relationship roles, financial management, parenting, conflict resolution, and beliefs.

This is an exciting time for couples and can also bring many vital, yet nerve-wracking conversations. I am here to be your champion and guide, to help facilitate these conversations and strengthen your marriage for years to come. Our work together will be strengths-focused to help you be able to best support one another with a better awareness of your individual and couple dynamics.

No intention of marriage, or already married? I also use the Prepare-Enrich program with interested couples simply looking to strengthen their current relationship regardless of marriage intent or status.
